What’s new with Hornitos Beef!

We are delivering USDA Beef boxes each week on Friday’s and Saturday’s send us a message or give us a call to get on the schedule for delivery. Each box contains 24lbs of 85/15% Ranch Raised ground beef. You can customize your box with 1lbs. pkgs. 2lbs. pkgs. and Custom ½ lbs. Patties (4 per pkg). We also have USDA custom cuts of Tri tips/ Briskets, Soup bones, Chuck Roast, and Arm Roasts available.



We have available USDA ½ Beef and ¼ Beef available for delivery Mid-January. Secure your order with a $300 deposit now.

We have a Whole Custom Harvest Date for January 22ND this is our best value for our customers. You and your family purchase and own a steer from our herd, we schedule and take care of all the details of Harvest and Delivery to Custom butcher. What’s New at the Ranch?

We are very thankful for the moisture that came this month, it was perfect timing. Soon the cows will be able to get full bites of fresh sweet green grass.

This month Tom and the kids and I stayed busy. We preconditioned heifers and turned Bulls out, this is the process of sorting and Vet checking for health quality as well as soundness. We select Bulls specifically for Heifers, these boys are selected based off the EPD’s (Expected Progeny Differences) Expected progeny differences (EPDs) have been available for more than 30 years, and the application of EPD technology for the genetic improvement of commercial beef cattle can be a key component of meeting current and future beef production demands.

This application requires that beef producers establish clear goals for their operation. The bulls selected are expected to sire low birth weight calves also known as calving ease this gives the virgin heifers the best chance for an easy delivery. We also turn the Heifer bulls out almost 3 weeks prior to our all-ready established herd. Many ranchers do this to help ease the workload somewhat, during calving season (which will be next fall for us).
