May is a month dedicated to BEEF!
Each May, we get to celebrate something that’s been at the heart of American meals, communities, and traditions for generations: BEEF!. Beef Month is more than just a quick acknowledgement to a protein source. It’s a nationwide opportunity to let the ranchers and the hardworking families raise high-quality cattle, the small towns and businesses sustained by the beef economy, and the nutritional and cultural value.
May is not just a month that was randomly chosen, its the start off to grilling season, Mothers Day, is a great day to break out the grill and make mom some of her favorite meals.
The U.S. is one of the top producers and consumers of beef in the world. According to the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association:
- The industry contributes over $170 billion to the U.S. economy annually.
- Over 700,000 ranchers and cattle producers support local economies across the country.
- Each American consumes roughly 57 pounds per year on average.
From creating jobs to feeding families, it has an undeniable impact on food systems, both local and global. And when it’s raised naturally and responsibly, that impact can be even greater.
Here at Hornitos Beef, we’re proud to be part of a community that values transparency, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship.
This month allows us the opportunity to highlight the lifestyle and the blessings that come with ranching, and share them with you.

Hornitos Beef is excited to share the benefits of having a balanced beef diet!
By adding a 3‑ounce cooked serving of beef (about the size of your palm) provides 25 g of high‑quality protein—about half of the average adult’s daily protein needs.
How can your family achieve a healthy beef lifestyle without breaking the bank?
First thing first, let’s find local affordable ranch raised beef for your family its not as hard as it seems. If you go to your search bar on your device and type in “Ranch raised beef near me!” If you’re in our network area, we hope Hornitos Beef pops up for you, but if not there are so many ranching families that are including direct to consumer sales to their already established beef operations.
Second let’s talk about options. Whole Beef, ½ Beef, ¼ Beef, or beef boxes. Now yes you could order from those subscription places that drive around with a freezer in the truck bed! OR YOU CAN Find a Rancher in your area, or one that will ship to your area.

Whole Beef will give you a year-round access to your beef protein source. If you are a family of 7 (uhm….like the Hornitos Beef Crew) that beef will last most of the year.
½ Beef will or should be able to get a family of 4-5 through the year.
¼ Beef will or should be suitable for a family of 2-3 for a year.
What are you going to get?….. all the nutrients and flavor, and cuts for grilling, slow cooking, and roasting you are going to need to bring your family running to the dinner table all year long.

Beef is packed full of nutrition that can’t be mimicked by any alternate source. In a world that is searching for everything original, unique and not the norm, just stick with the original natural protein source, Beef! You wont be sorry.
Really, to celebrate Beef Month there is nothing better than a BBQ. While prices seem to be a little out of budget range, you can build a good repour with your local ranchers and you can find that buying in bulk might be more cost effective than you think. Customers save up all year long to stock up their freezers.
We celebrate Beef Month each month. Harvest days happen 1 time a month all year long here at Hornitos Beef. Our prayer for each harvest is for the meat that hits our customers tables is for each meal to bring nourishment and gather friends and family to make memories and conversations.
