It's Hot - Must Be Summer

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Greetings from Hornitos Beef!

I hope your July has been treating you well, though the heat is upon us , and we are facing changing times. Here at Hornitos Beef we have found it is important now, more than ever to enjoy the little things in life

We as a family have found so much joy BBQing and spending time with our families. I know there are many wonderfully made individuals that help make this world go round and we respect each and everyone's right to be advocates for their own health as well as their families.

Please know that the butcher shops we work closely with are following all the necessary precautions to ensure safe health and handling practices. We as a family living in a rural area have not experienced such severe changes to our daily routine and life. But we know that many of our customers are not as fortunate.

Please know that you are in our daily thoughts. We would like to share one of our favorite recipes with you in this month's newsletter.

We are sharing our Hornitos Beef Sirloin Steak Beef Shish Kabobs. The Sirloin Steak is a great steak to use for this recipe.

The sirloin steak is cut from the sirloin, the subprimal posterior to the short loin where the T-bone, porterhouse, and club steaks are cut. The sirloin is actually divided into several types of steak. The top sirloin is the most prized of these and is specifically marked for sale under that name. The bottom sirloin, which is less tender and much larger, is typically marked for sale simply as "sirloin steak". The bottom sirloin, in turn, connects to the sirloin tip roast. We hope you find this recipe a hit with your family.

Beef Shish Kabob
2 Hornitos Beef Sirloin Steaks 1" cubed
1 Favorite marinate (we like to make our own)
6 Wooden Skewers
12 oz. small pearl whole potatoes (canned or raw lightly boiled)
1 Red Onion
2 Favorite Peppers (we like baby bell for the kids not as spicy)

Soak those skewers in some water to help them to stay intact during grilling before you start assembly. Marinate Cubed Beef for a few hours or overnight in the fridge. Chop bell pepper and Onion large enough to skewer 1" pieces. Get the Grill ready for Medium to Low heat. Assemble your skewers alternating beef onion pepper and potatoes. I like to brush skewers with olive oil to help prevent sticking to the grill. Place skewers on a hot grill and cook until onions and peppers are slightly charred and steak pieces reach a minimum of 145 internal temp. approximately 3-4 minutes per side

We hope you and your family can gather around some Hornitos Beef and enjoy quality time together. We still have Available Whole Options September and 1/2 and 1/4 options for November. Please give us a call at (209) 376-2439 to get your deposits in or Order Now!

We leave you with a quote from the great, late John Wayne which is an inscription on his headstone:

"Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learnt something from yesterday."

Thank you and Best Wishes,
